What Glows in the Dark

Rubix Greyis needs money. For rent, for college, to find a cure for his sister who's been raised in virtual reality since catching the insanity-inducing Neon Plague... he needs money for a lot of things, okay? If he has to do things like ferry strange chemicals to the Chromatics Gang and tutor the socially inept First Neon Baby, so be it. However, Rubix could do without his alter ego, DJ Ruby Firefly, being targeted by the vigilante, Muted, as a result.

Meanwhile, Kaleido Lumine might have money, but it's not worth much when he's been isolated his entire life on account of being a (literally) glowing example of genetic modification. He knows his distant older sister, the mayor, is just trying to protect him. But he can't help but dream of making real connections... something that his night job as the vigilante, Muted, doesn't help with.

After fate intertwines both parts of their lives, a new variant of the Neon Plague appears, sparking a violent gang war and forcing their alter-egos to work together.

But with their individual secrets and struggle to find the true motive, is it possible to stop chaos from consuming the globe?

WHAT GLOWS IN THE DARK is a standalone and complete at 98,000 words. Told from two points of view, it's centered around two college students trying to navigate a dangerous world filled with crime, hidden agendas, family issues, the struggle to make real connections with others, and constant reminders of their own past traumas. It advocates that, no matter your role in life or age, having someone support you can truly change everything.
